San Diego's Top Annual Festivals and Events 2014
The San Diego area truly has it all -- fine dining, a vibrant arts culture, pleasant year-round climate, professional sports teams, NCAA Division I teams and, of course, the most beautiful beaches around. While real estate developers have worked--at length--to plan and develop some of the most beautiful apartments San Diego and surrounding areas, there are just so many wonderful attractions residents will want to take advantage of.
Following are a few local festivals and events that are sure to draw both individuals and families out of their cozy apartments Chula Vista and San Diego. First, the Salsa Bachata Festival remains one of the best ways to close out the summer. Held over Labor Day weekend, the festival draws some of the world's best professionals and semi-professional salsa dancers who compete for top prizes. Bachata dancing is also featured, and in recent years, Kizomba was also added to the lineup. The event also features workshops from world-class instructors, live music from local bands and an array of delicious foods from quality vendors. The 8th Annual Salsa Bachata Festival happens August 28-31, 2014. Next, the San Diego Jazz Festival takes place annually in the San Diego area and features some of the top names in jazz entertainment.
This year, the three-day event takes place over Memorial Day weekend (May 23 - 25, 2014) at the Omni La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad. Featured artists include Maxwell, Charlie Wilson, Jonathan Butler, Boney James and Jill Scott, among others. This is a ticketed, outdoor event that will take place, rain or shine. In a nod to its history as the self-proclaimed "Lemon Capital of the World", Third Avenue Village hosts the annual Lemon Festival in nearby Chula Vista each year. The family-friendly event features live entertainment, crafts from local artisans and a wide variety of delectable foods. Best of all, admission is free. The event generally takes place in August of each year.
And finally, furry friends are family, too! To embrace that, the Farmer's Market at Otay Ranch Town Center created an opportunity for dog owners to come out and celebrate their pets at a monthly event called 'Yappy Hour at the Farmer's Market'. The event is held on the third Tuesday of each month from 6 PM to 8 PM at the Fireplace Lounge. The whole family can enjoy great food and meet other canine owners in a fun setting everyone will enjoy.
